A visit to a Tea Estate and Factory and seeing some examples of the country’s history and culture in the Temple of the Tooth in Kandy where you will also see a colourful Cultural Show. For those keen on plant life, the time you spend at the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens will be one of the highlights of the tour. Day 01 Airport/Colombo – Kitulgala

kithulgala-4-thumbMet on arrival from your flight or picked up from Colombo hotel where you will be taken to the Kitulgala, where you could challenge yourself to some whitewater rafting down the Kelani River. The Kelani river graded 2/3 rafting site stretches for six kilometres with seven exciting rapids. Alternately you could visit the Beli Lena caves. This is a famous cave where the 12,000 year old skeletal remains of the Balangoda Man (Homo sapiens Balangodensis) were found. Also found here are the waste parts of the food consumed by them.

Over night will be at a hotel in Kitulgala.

 

Day 02 Kitulgala – Ella

Your drive today will be very interesting as you will be passing beautiful mountains, greenery, tea plantations and many waterfalls. Arrive at Ella Adventure Park. You are free to relax or trek to the campsite & engage in some adventure activities.

Overnight will be at a hotel in Ella.

 

 

 

Day 03 Ella

You will be taken on an excursion to visit the water falls. Waraka Ara, Ellawala,Diyaluma will be quite interesting with the opportunity for you to have a cool dip close to one of the falls. Incidentally Bambarakande & Diyaluma, which are 790ft & 560ft respectively, are Sri Lanka’s two highest waterfalls.

Return to hotel for Overnight stay.

 

 

Day 04 Bandarawela

Leave the world of tea gardens to the more temperate climate of Belihul Oya/ Haldummulla. You will notice the sudden changes in vegetation and climate within a matter of minutes as you descend to lower altitudes.

Day 05 Bandarawela

bambarakanda-thumbTrek to Sri Lanka’s highest water falls, the Bambarakande. You can have a picnic lunch close to the falls.

Return to a hotel at Belihul Oya

 

 

 

 

Day 06 Bandarawela – Haldummulla

Visit the Diyaluma waterfalls after a leisurely breakfast. Return either via Wellawaya or Poonagala.

Overnight will be at Bandarawela.

 

 

 

 

Day 07 Haldummulla

Take the morning train to Ohiya. From the Ohiya station, walk to Pilkington point and proceed through the Udaweriya tea estate to Haldummulla. This is an increasingly challenging walk through tea plantations, mountain slopes and thick jungle. Spend the rest of the evening.

Overnight at Bandarawela.

 

 

 

Day 08 Haldummulla – Nuwara Eliya

Proceed to the Hill station of Nuwara Eliya. Lunch will be at a picturesque restaurant close to the Ramboda
falls. You will visit the Hakgala Garden en-route.

Overnight will be at a hotel in Nuwara Eliya.

 

 

 

Day 09 -Nuwara Eliya – Kandy

Leave for the Hill Capital of Kandy after breakfast. Nestled in a valley 1600 feet above sea level, surrounded by mountains & virtually encircled by the scenic Mahaweli river; Kandy is one of the most beautiful cities in Sri Lanka. You will be entertained to a cultural show in the evening, after visiting the famous Kandy temple and Botanical Gardens in the afternoon.

Day 10 Kandy – Knuckles

knuckles-mountain-range-thumbToday you will be visiting the Knuckles mountain range. The winding roads will lead you through spectacular mountain scenery. You will arrive at the mountain lodge tucked away in a remote village, where you will spend the night.

 

 

 

 

Day 11 Knuckles

After breakfast, you will leave for a trek through forest trails to “Corbett’s Gap”, a climb of 500 meters. Its name describes its outline. The Knuckles Range consists of the Knuckles massif, the Knuckles range and the Knuckles peaks. The Knuckles massif is about 90 square miles in extent and is a detached block of the central highlands separated from the main highlands by the Dumbara Valley. Corbett’s Gap – is a vast split in the range of hills, through which on a clear day an amazing view is possible.

Overnight stay will be at a lodge in Knuckles.

 

 

Day 12 Knuckles – Kandy

Trek to Gerandi Ella falls. You will pass little streams, plateaus and climb over mountains. A picnic breakfast could be had en-route. The vehicle will meet you half way on your return journey, and take you to Kandy.

Overnight will be at a hotel in Kandy.

 

 

 

Day 13 – Transfer out You will be taken to either a Colombo hotel or the Airport today

  • Accommodation sharing twin on Bed and Breakfast Basis while on tour at mentioned hotels or similar.
