ItineraryMet on arrival from your flight or picked up from Colombo hotel. Leave for Muthurajawela, where you will take a boat ride in the marsh. The boat rides provide a view of Sri Lankan wetlands as never seen before. Imagine listening to the chorus of feathered creatures, watching the water lilies dancing on the tropical sun, monkeys swinging on treetops and crocodiles moving stealthily in water. Proceed to Waikkal for dinner and overnight.
Leave for Giritale after breakfast. You will be able to visit the Kaudulla National Park in a 4WD Safari where large herds of Elephants are the most prominent feature in the park Overnight will be at a Hotel in Giritale.
Your
breakfast will be at the Giritale Hotel. Leave for Sigiriya in the morning
where you will be able to climb the majestic Sigiriya Rock Fortress,
the 5th century palace in the sky, famous its frescoes and water gardens.
Descend the rock and proceed to Kandy, the hill capital Sri Lanka. Kandy
is one of the most beautiful cities in Sri Lanka. You will get the opportunity
to visit the most venerated & world famous temple of the tooth. . Visit the Royal Botanical Gardens, before checking in at a hotel in Kandy.
Leave for the cool climate of Nuwara Eliya, the mountain retreat almost 6200 feet in elevation. Visit a tea plantation and factory on the way. You will also pass many beautiful streams, waterfalls, roadside vegetable and fruit vendors. Proceed to Bandarawela where you will be spending the night at the a hotel in Bandarawela/ Ella.
Today
involves a trek to Horton Plains via Boralanda. Horton Plains is a highland
plateau comprising montane grassland and elfin forest. It is home to
a large variety of endemic birds & flora. The full day nature trail
covering World’s End, a scenic viewpoint with a dramatic drop & Baker’s
fall is approximately 18 Km in total. Return to Bandarawela for Dinner and overnight.
You have an exciting trek to the remote village of Sapugasulpotha this (early) morning! Depart by 5:30 am on this nature trail passing village paddy fields, cultivation yards and forests. You will arrive at a remote village where you can have a traditional breakfast in a typical Sri Lankan village house with the house owner.. Leave at a leisurely pace to the hotel in Ratnapura, where you will be staying overnight.
Leave on an excursion for the Sinharaja Rainforest this morning. This is the last remaining virgin rainforest, and it was declared a world heritage site in 1988. This is arguably the most important site in Sri Lanka and is internationally important for its bio diversity.Return to Ratnapura hotel for dinner and overnight.
You will be taken to either a Colombo hotel or the Airport today.
