ItineraryMet on arrival from your flight or picked up from Colombo hotel. Leave for Muthurajawela for a boat ride in the marsh. The marsh offers the opportunity to see and feel the charm of nature in its most pristine form. Also have a look at our traditional fishing gear and craft. Proceed to the hotel for dinner and overnight.
Leave Waikkal for Kitulgala, where you could challenge yourself to some
whitewater rafting down the Kelani River. The Kelani river graded 2/3
rafting site stretches for six kilometres with seven exciting rapids.
Alternately you could visit the Beli Lena caves. This is a famous cave
where the 12,000 year old skeletal remains of the Balangoda Man (Homo
sapiens Balangodensis) were found. Also found here are the waste parts
of the food consumed by them.
Over night will be at hotel in Kitulgala.
Your
drive today will be very interesting as you will be passing beautiful
mountains, greenery, tea plantations and many waterfalls. Arrive at Ella
Adventure Park. You are free to relax or trek to the campsite & engage
in some adventure activities. Overnight will be at a hotel in Ella/ Bandarawela.
You will be taken on an excursion to visit the water falls. Waraka Ara, Ellawala,Diyaluma will be quite interesting with the opportunity for you to have a cool dip close to one of the falls. Incidentally Bambarakande & Diyaluma, which are 790ft & 560ft respectively, are Sri Lanka’s two highest waterfalls. Return to hotel for dinner.
Today
you will be leaving the beautiful mountains behind and entering the jungles
of Uda Walawe National Park in a 4WD to see our famous elephants on an
afternoon safari. Herds of elephant can be seen along the river during
the dry season, which is usually between May & September. Proceed to the south coast of Embilipitiya in the evening for dinner and overnight at Embilipitiya.
Have a leisurely breakfast and drive along the coast to reach the Galle Fort, famous for the Dutch Fort. The Portuguese came to Galle in 1505, followed by the Dutch in 1640. When Colombo fell to the British in 1796, the fort was handed over & used as an administrative centre, a function which it performs to this day. Proceed to Bentota or Wadduwa. You can relax to the soothing sounds of the Indian Ocean. Overnight at a hotel in Bentota/ Wadduwa area.
You will be taken to either a Colombo hotel or the Airport today.
