Detailed Itinerary

Day  1 - Airport / Colombo

Arrival and Transfer to a hotel in  Colombo.

“Colombo is a fascinating city not only for a comfortable blend of east & west, but also a cosy mixture of past & present. It is the commercial hub of the country & is only 34 Km from the airport. Places of interest are the Galle Face Green, the Fort, Pettah, Town Hall, Independence Memorial Hall etc”

Dinner and overnight stay in Colombo.

Day  2 - Colombo / Bulathsinghala

After breakfast leave for Bulathsinhala. Visit the Pahiyangala Cave which is situated 400 ft. above ground level overlooking a mountain range.

“This cave derives its name from the famous Chinese explorer FaHien who stayed there during his sojourn to Adams peak in the 5th-century AD. It is believed to have been inhabited by the earliest human beings in Asia more than 37,000 years ago. This cave is large enough to provide shelter for more than 300 people.”

Dinner and overnight stay at Kitulgala.

Day  3 - Bulathsinghala / Kitulgala

After breakfast  leave to visit the Belilena Cave. You can also have an optional bird watching trail.

“This cave situated 2000 feet above sea level in scenic
surroundings.The excavations have uncovered many fossils approx 32,000 years old.”

Dinner and overnight stay at the Kithulgala.

Day  4 - Belihul oya / Balangoda/ Belihul oya

After breakfast leave for Balangoda to visit the Saint Jeyalani cave & mosque. 

“Its healing powers are derived from Qutub Muhiyaddeen Abdul Cader Jailany who visited this site more than 1000 years ago.”

Dinner and overnight stay at Belihul oya.

Day  5 - Belihul oya / Ella

After breakfast  leave to Ella to visit the Ravana cave.

“The place on the panoramic Ella mountain range where King Ravana of the Indian epic 'Ramayana' is said to have kept the princess Sita imprisoned. If time permits you will visit the Dowa temple to view ancient cave paintings”.

Dinner and overnight stay at Ella.

Day  6 - Ella / Bandarawela

After breakfast leave to Banadarawela. At Bandarawela you will visit the Dova Temple.

“Located on the main highway between Badulla and Bandarawela about 05 km from Bandarawela, the Dowa Rock Temple has murals and inscriptions dating back to the 1st century BC.  The colossal unfinished rock-cut standing Buddha figure (8m high) carved on the cliff face is one of its main attractions.”

Dinner and overnight stay at Bandarawela.

Day  7- Bandarawela /Negambo

After breakfast leave for Negambo. Rest of the day at your leisure.

“A characteristic fishing town north of Colombo, it is a mere 6 Km from the international airport. Set amid lush groves of coconut palms, it breathes the spirit of the sea. Negombo is a gourmet's paradise with sea food in plenty. Old world fishing craft like the outrigger canoe and the catamaran bring seer, skipjack, herring and mullet, pomfret & amber jack, while lobster & prawn are caught in the lagoon.”

Dinner and overnight stay in Negambo.

Day 08 - Negambo / Air port

Leave to the Airport on time for the flight.
