Detailed Itinerary

Day  1 - Airport / Waikkal (Negombo)

Arrival and transfer to hotel in Waikkal.

”Waikkal is coastal  village which is situated approx 18km from Negambo”.

Dinner and over night stay at Waikkal.

Day 2 - Waikkal

Leisure at Waikkal exploring the bird life in the surrounding areas and Mangroves.

“Enjoy a relaxing holiday in the scenic and tranquil surroundings or engage innumerous eco-friendly activities and sports both land and water based. If you wish to explore the flora & fauna in our extensive garden and its environs”,

Dinner and over night stay at Waikkal.

Day  3 - Waikkal /Kitulgala

After breakfast leave for Kitulgala to visit Bandara forest.

“Kitulagala Forest is another popular location for bird watching. This forest is the second best location after the Singharaja Forest. The Kitulgala forest is a continuation of the Singharajah forest. One can watch most of the endemic birds in and also the flora” 

Dinner & over night at Kitulagala.

Day  4 - Kitulgala / Singharaja

After early breakfast leave for Sinharaja for a half a day trek to the forest.

“This is the last remaining virgin rainforest, and it was declared a world heritage site since 1988. This is arguably the most important site in Sri Lanka and is internationally important for its biodiversity. The reserve encompasses some of the few remaining sizeable tracts of undisturbed primary lowland rainforest. Regarded as a birdwatcher’s paradise it also contains 50% of Sri Lanka’s endemic mammals & butterflies,”
 
Dinner and over night at Sinharaja

Day  5 - Sinharaja

A whole day at Sinharaja forest.

“This is the last remaining virgin rainforest, and it was declared a world heritage site since 1988. This is arguably the most important site in Sri Lanka and is internationally important for its biodiversity. The reserve encompasses some of the few remaining sizeable tracts of undisturbed primary lowland rainforest. Regarded as a birdwatcher’s paradise it also contains 50% of Sri Lanka’s endemic mammals & butterflies”
 
Dinner and over night at Sinharaja

Day  6 - Sinharaja / Udawalawe

After breakfast leave for Uda walawe for half a day safari

One could sight Elephant, spotted deer, jackal, mongoose and several species of birds could be sighted very frequently

Dinner & over night stay Uda walawe.

Day  7 - Udawalawe / Nuwara-Eliya

After breakfast leave for Nuwara Eliya. Rest of the day at you leisure or you have an option of having w walk to the city centre.

“The center of the hill country also called the “Hill station” in British colonial jargon. This ruggedly picturesque location almost 6200 feet in elevation with it’s soft English spring climate is very English in it’s landscape & buildings; which of course was started by the British, who made it their hill resort, during their rule in Sri Lanka”

Dinner & over night stay Nuwara  Eliya.

Day  8 - Nuwara-Eliya

Early breakfast and leave for Horton Plains.

“The rugged mountain route to the plains is a tough drive; but the hauntingly beautiful surroundings & majestic scenery will keep them enthralled throughout the journey. Horton Plains is a highland plateau comprising montane grassland and elfin forest. It is home to a large variety of endemic birds & flora. The full day nature trail covering World’s End, a scenic viewpoint with a dramatic drop & Baker’s Falls.”

Dinner & over night stay Nuwara  Eliya.

Day  9 - Nuwara-Eliya / Kandy

After breakfast leave for Kandy - en route visit a Tea Factory to view tea production. City tour of Kandy.
 
“Kandy was the last capital of the Sri Lankan kings, which fell to the British in 1815. This hill capital is situated in a valley 1600 feet above sea level, surrounded by mountains & virtually encircled by the scenic Mahaweli river; the longest in Sri Lanka. Due to it’s Its cultural and religious significance UNESCO designated the Sacred City of Kandy as a World Heritage Site in 1988”.

Dinner & over night stay in Kandy.

Day  10 - Kandy / Giritale

After breakfast leave to visit ti Sigiriya

”Sigiriya the lion rock is more than just a fortress which rises 600ft from the shrub jungle surrounding it. This famous rock fortress was built in the 5th Century AD by King Kashyapa.”

Dinner and over night stay at Giritale.

Day  11 - Giritale/Colombo

After breakfast, leave for Colombo en route visiting Pinnawala.

The Elephant Orphanage located in Kegalle approx 80km from Colombo. This orphanage was  established to give shelter to elephants who are displaced from their natural habitats.

Day  12 - Colombo/ Airport

Leave on time to airport for departure.

Tour includes:
