"Mandalay Lake Kokgala - Accommodation"

The property comprises of two pavilions. The living pavilion is open air where there is a ten seater dining table and lovely out door lounge chair and is where one would spend all their time relaxing. This overlooks a warm 25 metre pool.

Within the central cupboards you will find a fresh drinking water machine, board games, cards and jigsaw puzzles. The game of Boule and croquet are also there for our use. There is also a large range of reading material.

A bathroom, washroom, showers and laundry are also within this area.

Attached to this pavilion is the kitchen. The cook will try and prepare a dish of your choice and will discuss any dietary choices and your level of chilli/pepper tolerance. Her specialties are local dishes. She will pack a lunch in Tupperware containers to take on any outings. Food is not included in our prices, but with a little money, she will go shopping, and where possible supply the receipts. Fisherman sell their fish in the village can even come to the pontoon. The staff will set the table on the pontoon, on the lawn or under the attap.

The larger pavilion houses three double bedrooms, al with ensuites. The upstairs floor is the master bedroom and commands beautiful views across the property and the lake. The room has a lovely clawed bathtub, a shower and toilet. There is also a private verandah to sit.  All doors open to take advantage of the view.

Down stairs has two double bedrooms with a lounge room that can, if need be, accommodate another two people. Each bedroom has air-conditioning, fans and mains water. Our staffs prepare every room in the evenings, turning on lamps and air conditioners.

They have opted to keep Mandalay free of the outside distractions of day to day life. Habaraduwa, just five minutes own the road towards Galle, has communication centre’s, and Galle town has internet cafes with a faster speed connections. Galle Fort has an internet café at 19 Pedlar Street.

The local village of Kathaluwe, where Mandalay is centered, is a friendly and safe Buddhist village. Grab a torch and have a wander around at night. You might see the little glow Lantern flies that look like fairies at night. Or walk in the morning and see the monkeys jump from tree to tree.

Transport from the property can easily be arranged by one of their staff members if required for the entire stay, at the cost of the client.

And when relaxing is just too much, their staff can also arrange for a boat to collect then from the pontoon of Mandalay. One can have a sunset drink on top of the rocks that are in the middle of the lake. The boat driver will go right in to the rock!

Mandalay is a great chance to discover the beauty of Lake Koggala and a great base to head both south and east of the region.

It is also a perfect place for not only luxuries accommodation, but for functions and parties.

At Mandalay we have three staff members. Our cook who will purchase and prepare requested meals. Our house boy who does the house cleaning and laundry and a night watchman and gardener.

Their staffs are trustworthy and reliable. Their staffs take great pride in working at Mandalay, and as they are all from the local area, they have knowledge of the surrounding facilities. Although you feel quite remote, the property is very close to major towns and smaller villages and an ATM and the Commercial Bank of Ceylon to exchange foreign currency, is approximately 3 kms from the house.
