"The Kandy House"

The main house is on two storeys with a central courtyard, allowing maximum ventilation. The wide verandahs, the lightly painted white interiors, sweeping Jackwood staircase , the hardwood floorboards and landings, the Dutch style antique furniture all add to the wild splendour and character to this truly boutique hotel. The hospitality backed by the highly personalized service, will add to the truly boutique experience.

‘The Kandy House' consists of the following 08 Suite rooms, with enchanting names, well furnished with four-poster beds with fitted mosquito nets, soft white linen, en suite bathrooms with Victorian bathtubs, adding a colonial character with contemporary silks and cottons. 

• The Ultra deluxe, spacious Verandah rooms located on the front and side of the house - Peacock Royal, Red Spot Duke,

• Garden suite with its Romantic bathroom and picturesque garden views. - Black Rajah,

• The Super deluxe Gallery rooms circling the atrium courtyard with private balcony- Indian Admiral, Cornelian, Sunbeam and Lime Butterfly

• The small Standard room on the ground floor which could be combined with the Garden suite into a family suite - Monkey puzzle

The bedrooms are well ventilated by the cooler hill-country air and are not air-conditioned but are fitted with ceiling fans for your convenience.

Dining and common areas

The restaurant with a sophisticated dining area and a well experienced talented chef, offers a daily set menu of International cuisine dominated by fresh local produce.

Kithul –trees that supply treacle for delicious desserts- will surround you in the gardens as you sit and relax with a cup of delicious Ceylon tea.

A 24-hour room service, daily laundry, safe deposit lockers and left-luggage room, a freshwater infinity pool in the garden are some of the other facilities available.

Yoga and massage are available on request

There are lots of local restaurants and bars scattered all over the Kandy town, if you wish to test your taste buds with numerous other local and international cuisine.

Things to see and do

• The Royal Botanical Gardens, The Pinnawela Elephant orphanage are all within easy reach by car.

• You could choose to simply relax , unwind and enjoy the local fresh air and the bird and other wildlife.

• You could explore the beautiful spice gardens.

• Take a dip in the pool at the foot of the garden

• You could take a stroll in the city, visit the Sacred temple of the Tooth watch the local life style, shop for gems, jewellery local batiks and handicraft

• You could enjoy an evening watching a cultural show depicting Kandyan dancers and drummers at the Arts centre.

• you could enjoy a game of golf at the Victoria Golf course located East of Kandy with spectacular views of the Victoria dam.

“ Kandy is also home to the annual Kandy Perahera, a glittering street parade which goes on for 10 days during the months of July/ August. Hailed as one of the grandest events in Asia , this extravagant parade includes hundreds of colourfully caparisoned elephants, chieftains, drummers, dancers, and a heady mix of various other exotic performers. Most consider this a ‘must see event' in their lifetime..”
