"The Kandy House"
‘The
Kandy House', is located 12km from the city of Kandy on the Eastern hills,
a four hour drive from Colombo . This fascinating piece of architecture,
was formerly, an old colonial ‘Walauwe' (Manor House), once the ancestral
home of an influential Aristocratic Kandyan family, recently refurbished,
retaining its original state.
This Walauwa, originally built in 1804, has now been converted into a small luxury boutique hotel. Although it may have lost some of its original grandeur with the passage of time, ‘The Kandy House' still stands proudly with many a unique feature, reminding one of a history that runs back to more than 200 years.
The Kandy House, is nestled amidst a calm and tranquil village. Lush foliage surrounds the main house with a fresh water infinity swimming pool at the foot of the garden. Surrounded by all sorts of fruit trees , you could simply relax and unwind, under the shade of tropical trees, away from the hustle and bustle of the concrete jungles.
