Adventure, Nature and Super Hotels.

Hello from Germany,

we have been until yesterday in Sri Lanka and booked the tour via internet, which was very unusal for me. I never booked a tour just online. We decided to take the adventure tour, because we had beach before we came to sri lanka.

For the beginning. It was just stunning. Top organised

We had our private driver (Wasantha) – a soul of a human. He made all our wishes come through. We where Birdwatching in Negombo, went White Water Rafting in Kitulgala, had a visit at the Adventure park and did some canyoning and visited a National park with plenty elephants .

The choice of hotels was great. We had 4 Top Hotels and 1  normal Hotel, but with great charm and a terrific view.

Special Thanks to our Tour operator Tony and Filmi and even more thanks to our driver Wasantha for this great Experience, his safe driving in a chaotic surrounding and his helpful an open attitude.

We´ll be back Mat&Cordi

We´ll be back Mat&Cordi

Though Sri Lanka is virtually unknown in the field of Golf, it has a long history dating back to 1895 when the Colonial Secretary, an ardent golfer himself in consultation with the then Governor of Sri Lanka, Sir Joseph West Ridgeway, offered the Alfred Model Farm-named after the son of Queen Victoria to the golf club. The course was opened by Governor Ridgeway and was first named Ridgeways and in 1896 was named the Royal Colombo Golf Club after much restructuring.

Sri Lanka boasts of having three of the finest 18 hole Golf courses comparable to those in Asia. The three courses are situated in Colombo, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya. The elevations and climatic conditions in each location differ to the extent that some golfers often comment that it is like playing in three different countries.

Apart from playing golf, the guests are offered the additional option of seeing some of the islands Cultural and World Heritage sites and its attractions.

Dunuvila

Dunuwilla is the place from where Lord Rama fired the Brahmaastharam at King Ravana, which eventually killed him. Dhunu means arrow and Vila Means Lake. This place got its name because Lord Rama fired his arrow from this lake.

Gavagala

King Ravana had his dairy farm here. Milk was air lifted to the capital Lankapura from here using Vimana’s. The stone pillars here have the worn out marks cast by constant use of tying ropes on them.

Gurulupotha – Lankapura

There was an aircraft repair center in the capital city. This place is known as Gurulupotha. In Valmiki’s depiction King Ravana’s Vimana resembled a huge peacock. The Vimana in Sinhala language means Dhandu Monara which is known as ‘flying peacock’, and hence the name Gurulupotha, which means ‘parts of birds’.

Ishtreepura – Konda Kattu Gala

Ishtripura means an area of women in Sinhalese. This was one of the places to which King Ravana shifted Sitadevi as a precautionary measure which he was forced to take by Lord Hanuman’s advent. There are lots of intruding tunnels and caves in this area. This seems to be a part of a great ingenious network of paths, which is interconnected to all the major areas of King Ravana’s city. Sitadevi took bath in this very stream and had dried her hair sitting on a rock and put clips to her hair, hence this rock is known as Konda Kattu Gala. Ishtreepura / Konda Kattu GalaThis is situated in the Welimada Area.

Dolu Kanda – Sanjeevani drops

At different points of time during the war both Lord Rama and Lakshmana were hit by powerful arrows, fell unconscious and to bring them back to life Lord Hanuman was instructed to fetch the life saving herbs from Himalaya. Hanuman went to the hill, lifted the whole hill and brought it, as he was not able to identify the life saving herbs alone. Parts from the hill fell on five places in Sri Lanka, namely, Rumasala in Galle, Dolu Kanda in Hiripitiya , Ritigala on the Habarana Anuradhapura road, Thalladi in Mannar and Kachchativu in the north.
