My Visit to Sri Lanka… What a country! What a place!

November 8th, 2007 by ambermp

Just returned from Sri Lanka where we had Dream Vacations organize our tour and stay there.

What a country!

What a place!

Unfortunately, we did NOT have enough time to spend seeing all the sights but we managed to get to Sigiriya (allow enough time to climb the rock if you’re “older” like me and have a bit of arthritis), the elephant orphanage (baby elephants are soooo cute!), a couple of different national parks where we saw more elephants - and monkeys-, the tooth temple at Kandy, the ancient city of Polonnaruwa, the cave temples of Dambulla and the wonderful hill country where they grow the tea.

It was wonderful.

The people were all friendly and happy to have us visit there and surprised that we had come from the U.S. because most of their tourists are Asian or European but since we live in Asia, it was easier to get there.

We were very impressed with the greenery of the country. They seem to be working hard to keep their green areas and protect their temples and their wildlife and their culture.

I hope that we will be able to visit again and see some of the spots we missed and do some diving along the coast and see more monkeys - my favorite.
