The Beautiful Tissa

Tissamaharam, Sri Lanka a beautiful city Southern Province of the island. The town is also famous for it’s breathtaking lake Thisawava and the Buddhist temple “Sandagiri Dagaba”. Sandagiri Stupa was built by the regional ruler Prince Mahanaga, when Tissamaharama was the in the third century B.C. This is also the era that three stupas and the two ancient irrigation reservoirs were built.

Not only three ancient stupas and two ancient irrigation reservoirs makes Tissamaharama the tourist hub, on the northern side, the town is bounded by lovely expanses of paddy fields and it is the closest town to the famous Yala national park.
